OK so if blasting an ore thief will get u in trouble with concord and a neg sec rating. If u are jsut starting abd have not joined an corp. Or if u don't wanna join a corp and are in secure space, or even unsecure space. It seems unfair that the ore thief can take ur ore and get away with it with no repercuasions on his end. and even more infiar that if u blast him then u get nailed for defending what u mined.
So please no flameing or bashing. Just options other then spending millions in giant secuer cargo on how to deal with ore thiefs.

Vicoery but don't u think there should be some type of option to be able to fire upon an ore thief, in a way that is an act of agression.

LOL I can't belive this thread is still going.
Anyways, here's another anology since somany people like them ;-) If i was working in RL and placed teh fruits of my labor in a can and some theif tried to steal my sweat adn blood i would #!ñ"#!%#!!"!" teh hell out of them. Then when the cops shoed to see what happened they'd see that the thief which already has a record for theift (in this case a negative sec rating) was doing it again and that i was defending what was mine.
In EVE it should be the same. If a theif steals, eh owner of what he stole should be able to defend himself against the theift by what ever means posibble without the "police" showing up and blast the owner of the goods that the theif tried to steal, full of holes. So I think that it would be a good idea for CCP to place some script that if i am still around my can and a theif tried to take it that i should be able to defend it.
Now if i leave it behind for any period of time then it is fair game. That much i agree. just like in RL i fu leave your wallet behind; chances are that someone will take it. But if you are still there with your wallet next to u, the thief would think twice about taking it for fear of the consecuences. And if it so happens that the theif decides to attempt to take it and get the BeJesus beat out of them, then when the police shows up to see why the theif got beat up. It would be as simple as opening the wallet to see who it belongs to.
